![]() ![]() I felt an unrelenting sense of unease while reading the book, which was exacerbated by the fact that there were no set rules for the trial. He’s never imprisoned but he isn’t truly ‘free’ either as he must await instructions from the Committee of Affairs. who is arrested by an unknown authority for a crime that is never revealed, to either the reader or K. The Trial is a strange book but I actually really enjoyed it! It was absurd and dark but it was also very compelling and I was invested in the process of K’s trial. I read The Trial as part of the Classics Club Spin #28 which ends on the 12th of December. tries to gain control, he succeeds only in accelerating his own excruciating downward spiral. As he grows more uncertain of his fate, his personal life – including work at a bank and his relations with his landlady and a young woman who lives next door – becomes increasingly unpredictable.
